Folk Tales and Manga
Dec. 6/2005
I love how Sakura Kinoshita combines myths, legends, and folk tales from around the world into her manga. If you enjoyed Loki Ragnarok (also by Kinoshita), then you will most likely love Tactics as well. The story revolves around a young author/ghost hunter named Kantaro who wants humans and demons to get along. His companions are Yoko, a demon fox, and Haruka, a powerful ogre eater that Kantaro freed from a rock.
Tactics is great

Tactics is a very funny series about Ichinomiya Kantarou, a folklorist who can see spirits like kitsune and tengu, and the 'oni-eating tengu' that he names Haruka. I find the manga much more interesting in the anime, as it does not have Suzu (as far as I have read) and that the characters are fleshed out more.
Manga for those interested in mythology

If you are interested in Japanese mythology this might be something for you. The main character Ichinomiya Kantaro is a folklorist who tries to make ogres, goblins and other Japanese mythological creatures be able to live in harmony with humans. Even tough it does not go down in to all that much detail about all these creatures it's very entertaining to read and have a very nice feeling to it. The art is spanning all the way from comical chibi-style to a very beautiful original style with much detail.
